Learning objectives
Describe how electricity or other useful energy is obtained from fossil fuels, biofuels, water (hydroelectric, tidal and wave), geothermal sources, nuclear fuel, solar cells, solar heating panels and wind, referring to boilers, turbines and generators where they are used
Compare energy resources in terms of renewability, availability, reliability, scale and environmental impact
Know that radiation from the Sun, whose energy comes from nuclear fusion, is the source of all our energy resources except geothermal, nuclear and tidal, and that research continues into generating electricity on a large scale from fusion (Extended)
Understand efficiency qualitatively and, at Extended, define it as useful energy (or power) output divided by total energy (or power) input, expressed as a percentage, and calculate it in context
