Learning objectives

Draw and identify the symbols for the NOT, AND, OR, NAND, NOR and XOR gates, and write the truth table for each single gate

Build a logic circuit from a written description of a problem, from a logic expression or from a truth table, using up to three inputs and no more than six gates

Complete the truth table for a given logic circuit by working out the output of every gate for each combination of inputs

Write the logic expression produced by a given logic circuit, using the correct notation for NOT, AND, OR, NAND, NOR and XOR

Draw the logic circuit described by a given logic expression, and check the circuit against a truth table

Apply logic gates to a described control situation, such as a safety system that must switch on only for stated combinations of sensor readings
