Learning objectives
Use column, i–j and AB notation for vectors interchangeably, and represent vectors and their sums on a diagram using the triangle and parallelogram rules
Add and subtract vectors and multiply a vector by a scalar, and calculate the magnitude of a vector as √(x² + y²) and its direction as an angle
Find a unit vector in the direction of a given vector by dividing by its magnitude, and write a vector of stated magnitude in a given direction
Use position vectors to find the vector between two points, to prove that three points are collinear, and to find the position of a point dividing a line segment in a given ratio
Compose and resolve velocities, finding the resultant velocity of an object in a moving medium, and use the relationship displacement = velocity × time to find positions and to decide whether, and when, two particles collide
