Learning objectives

Choose a research question that is focused, personally interesting and answerable with mathematics at the level of the course, and state clearly what will be investigated

Organise the report with a clear introduction, a logical development and a conclusion that answers the stated question, keeping it concise rather than padded

Use correct mathematical notation, terminology and graphs throughout, defining every variable and parameter, and reserve calculator notation for the appendix

Apply mathematics that is relevant to the question and commensurate with the level of the course, showing the working rather than only quoting technology output

Reflect critically on the results, discussing the assumptions made, the limitations of the data or the model, the reliability of any prediction, and possible extensions

Demonstrate personal engagement by using original data, an individual approach or a context of genuine personal significance, rather than reproducing a standard textbook investigation
