Learning objectives
Sketch the graphs of y = sin x, y = cos x and y = tan x for any angle in degrees or radians, and of transformed versions such as y = 2 − 3 cos 2x, stating the amplitude, period and any asymptotes
Recall the exact values of sin, cos and tan for 30°, 45° and 60° (π/6, π/4 and π/3), and use symmetry to find exact values for related angles
Use sin⁻¹, cos⁻¹ and tan⁻¹ to give principal values, and find all the solutions of a trigonometric equation in a stated interval, including equations in 2x or (x + π/3)
Use tan θ ≡ sin θ / cos θ and sin²θ + cos²θ ≡ 1 to prove identities, simplify expressions and turn equations into quadratics in a single trigonometric ratio
