Learning objectives
Read the task to extract the required form, audience, purpose and word count, and plan a response that meets all four before beginning to write
Select and reorganise material from the source text, using only what the new purpose needs and inventing nothing that contradicts the original
Adopt the conventions of the required form, adjusting layout, register, sentence length, person and lexical choice to fit the new audience
Create a consistent voice for the new text, sustaining it from the opening line to the close rather than drifting back towards the style of the source
Control length and shape so that the response is complete within the stated word count, with a deliberate opening and a deliberate ending
